Custom metal fabrication

Quick answer

BERNTOR INC. builds custom steel parts and small structures when the part doesn't exist, is no longer available or has to be adapted to a specific use. Fabrication is done in steel, from your measurements or from the original part.

What can be built

  • Brackets, bases and mounting feet
  • Small steel frames and structures
  • Guards, grilles and equipment bumpers
  • Replacement parts copied from a worn or broken one
  • Reinforcements added to an existing structure
  • Tie-downs, eyelets and anchor points

How a custom project starts

Good fabrication starts with a clear need: what the part must carry, where it installs and how it fastens. A hand sketch, photos or the original part are usually enough.

Dimensions and mounting points are confirmed before any steel is cut. When useful, measurements are taken directly on site.

1. Need and constraints

Use, approximate load, environment, available space and mounting constraints.

2. Measurements and material

Choice of steel and thickness based on the use, plus validation of mounting points.

3. Fabrication and installation

Cutting, fitting, welding and on-site installation when the part belongs to existing equipment.

Information to have ready

  • What the part is for and what it must carry
  • Dimensions or a sketch, even rough
  • Photos of where the part installs
  • The original part if it still exists
  • Your target timing and the area where the project is

Limits and safety

  • Work is done on steel only: no aluminum, no stainless steel.
  • No regulated structural repairs and no high-pressure piping work are offered.
  • Work depends on safe access: a clear zone, flammable materials moved away, the machine immobilized.
  • Some conditions (wind, heavy rain, impassable access, site requirements) can postpone the work.
  • If a job falls outside what is offered, that is said plainly on the phone rather than attempted.
  • Projects requiring engineer-stamped drawings or regulated structural compliance are not offered.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to provide drawings?
No. A sketch, measurements or the original part are enough in most cases. Details are confirmed before fabrication.
Can you copy a broken part?
Often yes, if the pieces still show the dimensions and mounting points. Keep the part, even in rough shape.
Is the part painted or coated?
Finishing depends on the project and is discussed beforehand. It is not automatically included.
