Heavy equipment and bucket repair

Quick answer

BERNTOR INC. welds and repairs buckets and steel heavy equipment parts directly on the job site or in your yard, across the North Shore. A cracked bucket, a torn-off tooth adapter or a broken bracket can often be put back in service without moving the machine.

Typical use cases

Excavation, snow removal, forestry and landscaping wear steel down fast: abrasion, impact, twisting, occasional overload. The same parts come back again and again.

  • Excavator or loader bucket cracked at a corner or on the floor
  • Torn-off adapters or tooth holders
  • Thinned wear edge or bottom plate
  • Bent bucket lugs, pins and brackets
  • Cracks on arms, sticks or support structures
  • Cylinder brackets, guards and steel body parts

Types of problems handled

Fatigue cracks

They often start at a sharp corner or an older repair. The crack is bounded before welding so it doesn't restart further along.

Material loss from abrasion

Bucket floors, edges and friction zones: added steel plate or build-up depending on remaining thickness.

Torn-off parts

Adapters, lugs, brackets and tie-downs realigned and re-welded in their original position.

How an on-site job unfolds

Before arrival, site access, the presence of an operator if the machine must be moved, and the nature of the break are all confirmed.

On site, the part is cleaned, the area is secured, and welding is performed. Where the geometry allows, a reinforcement is added to delay the crack's return.

Information to have ready

  • Approximate make and model of the machine
  • Type of bucket or part affected
  • Length and location of the crack
  • Whether the machine can be moved or positioned
  • City, area and site access conditions
  • Close-up photos of the broken area

Limits and safety

  • Work is done on steel only: no aluminum, no stainless steel.
  • No regulated structural repairs and no high-pressure piping work are offered.
  • Work depends on safe access: a clear zone, flammable materials moved away, the machine immobilized.
  • Some conditions (wind, heavy rain, impassable access, site requirements) can postpone the work.
  • If a job falls outside what is offered, that is said plainly on the phone rather than attempted.
  • The operator must be able to position and immobilize the machine safely for the duration of the work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the bucket have to come off the machine?
Not always. Depending on the area to be welded, the bucket can often stay on if it is properly positioned and immobilized.
Can you work directly in a gravel pit or in the bush?
Yes, if site access is passable and safe for a service vehicle. That is confirmed on the phone before travelling.
Can a repaired crack come back?
It can if the cause is still there, for example repeated overload. The likely cause is explained and a reinforcement is suggested when feasible.
